When is the June 2026 FOMC meeting?
- June 16-17, 2026. The rate decision is announced at 2pm ET on June 17, followed by the Fed Chair's press conference at 2:30pm ET.
Can I trade Fed decisions on a prediction market?
- Yes. Kalshi offers three distinct CFTC-regulated contracts around each FOMC meeting: the post-meeting Fed funds rate (cut, hold, hike, by magnitude), the median dot-plot projection (June and December meetings only), and even who chairs the meeting. All legal for California residents.
Why are Fed markets so liquid?
- Fed decisions affect every other asset class. Macro funds, retail traders, and financial professionals all use Kalshi's contracts as a hedging or expression tool. The result is some of the deepest liquidity on the platform.
What data drives Fed market prices?
- May CPI (released mid-June), May jobs report (early June), Fed speeches in the blackout period leading into the meeting, and any surprise economic releases. Each major data point typically moves Fed contract prices within seconds.
Is this purely informational, or can I make money?
- Both. Many traders use Fed markets to hedge interest-rate exposure on other investments. Others trade them directionally based on a read of economic data the consensus is missing.
How does this compare to Fed funds futures?
- Fed funds futures (CME) are the institutional benchmark. Kalshi contracts are the retail-accessible version — generally tracking the same implied probabilities with simpler binary structure and lower account minimums.
When is the next Fed meeting after June?
- July 28-29, 2026. Each FOMC meeting through the year has its own contract on Kalshi, plus year-end rate-path contracts that span all remaining decisions.
Are there risks unique to Fed contracts?
- Mostly headline risk. A surprise inflation print or geopolitical event can move prices sharply between when you enter and when the meeting resolves. Position size accordingly.
