ProphetX holds CFTC licences as both a Designated Contract Market and a Derivatives Clearing Organization and is available in all 50 states plus D.C. Kalshi is a CFTC-regulated Designated Contract Market live in 48 states plus D.C., excluding Nevada and Washington state. Both sit under federal commodities law, so neither depends on California passing a sports betting measure.

ProphetX is sports only: NFL, NBA, MLB, NHL, college football, soccer including the 2026 World Cup, and combat sports. Kalshi lists sports plus politics, economics, weather, crypto and culture. If your watchlist is Rams, Lakers and Dodgers contracts, ProphetX covers it. If it also includes Fed decisions and the LA mayor's race, you need Kalshi.

ProphetX is peer-to-peer, so there is no house margin baked into the price: you are matched against other traders and pay a small commission on winning positions only. Kalshi charges a disclosed per-contract fee at order entry, up to roughly 7 percent on event markets and around 3.5 percent on sports. On heavily traded sports contracts ProphetX usually costs less; on thin markets Kalshi's deeper order book can matter more than the fee.

ProphetX runs on iPhone, Android and web, with a sports-first layout organised by league and game time. Kalshi's app and desktop site are finance-forward: category tabs, order tickets and charts. Both complete identity verification in about five minutes and support debit card and bank deposits.
应该选择哪个
Use ProphetX if you trade sports exclusively, want peer-to-peer pricing with no house margin, or live in a state Kalshi has not reached. Use Kalshi if you want the widest market list, trade politics or economics, or prefer a desktop order ticket. Plenty of California traders hold both and route each trade to whichever book is deeper.
