California's 3 November governor's race is Democrat Xavier Becerra against Republican Steve Hilton, the top two from the 2 June primary. Election markets on Kalshi and Polymarket US let Californians trade the winner, and the prices update as polls and early returns come in. How we got here
In California's top-two primary on 2 June 2026, Becerra finished first with about 28% of the vote. Hilton, a former Fox News host endorsed by President Trump in April, took second with about 25%, narrowly ahead of Tom Steyer. Under the top-two system, the two leaders advance whatever their party.
