Polymarket US is a CFTC-regulated exchange that accepts California residents (Polymarket's minimum age is 18; we recommend 21+). Sleeper runs fantasy and pick'em games under different rules, so check the Sleeper app for what is available in California. Courts are still deciding whether state gambling law can apply to sports event contracts; the 9th Circuit, whose rulings cover California, sided with Nevada against Kalshi at the preliminary stage in August 2026.

Pricing & fees

Polymarket charges modest per-contract fees disclosed at order entry, with no built-in house margin like a sportsbook. Since October 2026, Polymarket US charges a price-based taker fee (highest near 50¢, about $1.74 per 100 contracts). Orders that rest on the book pay no fee; rebates on them are limited to very high-volume traders from October 19, 2026. User experience

Sleeper's interface is social and fantasy-anchored: your league, draft, group chat, and picks all sit in one app. Polymarket's interface is chart-forward and news-rich: visual probability curves, context, and community commentary. Two very different reasons to open the app.
